Introducing Sherlock

In January I got a tiny little dog from the pet shelter Hull's Haven. Despite specializing in Border Collies this rescue shelter takes in small dogs as well and I found Sherlock while in foster care. He is part chihuahua, and probably part miniature pincher. Most of the time he is a little sweetheart because he loves to cuddle, and fits perfectly on my lap, which is where he is resting right now as I write this. Sometimes he can be a little monkey, and show some neediness and co-dependency, but overall he is a fantastic little dog, and I can barely remember how boring and bland my house was before I got him.

This one is a self-portrait.

Duet- Illustration Friday

Duet for Illustration Friday. I tried two versions. I'm on images number 193 and 194 for my year-long image a day project, with means that I'm actually a little more than halfway. All year I've been doing pretty good at not falling behind, but in recent weeks I have missed drawing for a bunch of days which leaves me almost three weeks worth of images behind. I'll have to push myself to catch up.

#51 Freedom - Lino Cut print

I went to an art education workshop on Friday, and made this lino cut print at Martha Street Studios. Martha Street Studios is a printmaking studio that exists as a gallery, studio, and place for community members to make use of it's facilities - they run workshops regularly for adults and also have high school programming and programs for youths. It was nice to finally see this place, because I've been eyeing workshops with them for a while.

Drawing

I started this drawing several months ago back in October I think, and only just finished it recently. Sometimes I go back through a box of drawings and will rediscover drawings that were never finished, or ideas that were abandoned. It's actually satisfying to rework them after a few months.

Some New Drawings

Here are a few drawings I finished recently.
The horse disguise I can't say I really have an explanation for. It makes me laugh.
The two bird people were both drawn separately, and I placed them together in Photoshop, but I'm not sure if they really belong together. Perhaps without the meathead caption. The Meathead drawing was inspired by a couple of muscle-guys that must have been coming from the downtown Y when I was selling at portage place. One of them appropriately purchased a small post-card size print from me of the muslcedog drawing I did a few months back.

Against perhaps logic I posted the horse drawing on etsy, lets see if anyone wants it!

Fearless- Illustration Friday

Completed this today. Parts of it arent' on par with what I'd like, but it's ok as a drawing. The middle part of the alligator's mouth gets a little clouded with too much lines, but I think you can still see it ok.

New Ink Drawings

At times the craft market was a little on the slow side today. The downside of that being that obviously sales were not as frequent as I would have liked. The plus side of it being slow is that I finished several drawings. The bird lady one is still waiting for a title, or some text to be added to it. Any suggestions?

An illustration Friday image. I am surprised this is the route I took with a word like cocoon. I saw this text as an article title in today's free press homes section. It is perhaps a little on the boring side for an Illustration Friday Drawing, but here it is.

Barely getting it in before the next topic is announced, another Illustration Friday image. I accidentally added one line too many to her face, making her look a little unhappier than I wanted, but it is at least fitting with the topic (unlike my last IF piece...).

Illustration Friday-Rescue

Drawing submission for Illustration Friday's theme Rescue. I find this a peculiar image that I drew, I'm not sure if I'm crazy about it. Sometimes with some images I hate them at first, then when I look back at them a month later they grow on me. I think some of the actual shapes of the deer aren't drawn properly, that's part of what bothers me about it.
