Highlights

There are times when all those end of the year reflections are annoying to me when I see them in the paper, or on TV, but I put together a set of highlights of my last year. I just had my 29th birthday on the second, so the timing of the new year and my birthday makes it easier for year-long resolutions and contemplations.

This turned into a reflection on having children. I do feel that having a child takes some courage, particularly for the mother. I am far away from that point in my life, so perhaps the influence on this piece was a good friend of mine who recently gave birth to a lovely little girl, and stepped full-fledged into motherhood.

Birthdays come and Birthdays go

Yesterday was my birthday, and my friends and family made me feel loved and happy yesterday. There was nothing out of the ordinary about this birthday, but it was just nice. Even the weather didn't dampen my birthday spirits (it was a chilling -39 degrees Celcius with the windchill yesterday). Once I finished this drawing I thought to myself about what an odd drawing it really is.
